“Never see a need without doing something about it.” – St Mary Mackillop.
This quote challenges me to never see someone in need and not step in to help them, it challenges me to be a bigger person and help others.
“A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom.” – Bob Dylan
This quote makes me appreciative of my position and my freedom in Australia. It asks me to be a more responsible person with the freedom that has been given to me.
2. Explain why all people are expected to act in a morally responsible manner.
“Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.” – Plato. People do not go around swearing and insulting other people, its in our values and ethics to act in an appropriate manner for the safety of others and your own reputation.
3. What is the link between right action and true freedom?
Right action is doing whats is right for the food of others and not just yourself. True freedom is the freedom for the heart to do what is desires and stay true to God
Going to war is an extremely controversial decision made by many people in our current society. The individual’s intentions greatly affect their decision and what they believe is right, what the individual wants to achieve through this decision. The moral dilemma associated with going to war is the fact that war includes the killing of human beings. In the Bible, it states that God ordered the Israelites to go to war (“Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”)
In my opinion, war isn’t the right way to resolve issues and is not good under any circumstances, no matter what you are doing it for. Pope Francis’ views were made very clear to the public when he stated that “War is never the right way to stop the injustice of the world” and also warned that “it always leads to further problems.”
The individuals relationship with God can give them hope that it will be okay and that they are doing the right thing, leading them to make decisions they think are okay in the eyes of God. People may look at how God ordered war and think that because he did this, it is okay to also go to war, but they forget that God ordered those wars, and the ones they are looking to participate in were not ordered by God in any way.
The good Samaritan is a story which exploits who your real neighbors are, “The one who showed pity.” It doesn’t matter how well you know someone or a persons rank in society the key factor of someone is the compassion they show towards others. The man from Samaria had no connection to the struggling bloke what so ever yet he helped him. A priest and temple helper who pray for values as such “thy shy help your neighbor” walked past and didn’t show any affection to the injured man.
Today was an extremely helpful day;
I left outside my comfort zone and participated in all the activities which proved to be fun. Today I became aware of how confronting it is being in confined spaces and also became aware of how much upper body strength is required to go rock climbing.
Kyle Kingston tragically considers himself as someone of high authority due to his charming appearance. In his obnoxious quest for power he is extremely disrespectful towards other and belittles them, to the extent of passing the wrong path where karma pays its toll. Kyle is stripped of his beauty because of the nasty way in which he acts and travels on an insightful journey back into reality. Along the way he becomes aware of the fact that money cant by happiness and looks do not depict who you really are. Kyle excepts the fact that he is and ugly soul and his attitude sucks, loneliness is also a key factor of his experience. Before Kyle was curse he was loved by all, as soon as he lost his looks he lost his friends. Kyle became aware of the fact that people only liked him for his looks and once his soul took control of his appearance others became aware of how ugly he is. In order to redeem his old appearance he had to learn how to show affection and be thoughtful of others without always thinking of whats best for himself, he had to purify his heart back to its former glory before he was spoiled.
when we think of bullying, we all can refer to something we know of, or ourselves have experienced. Bullying is a repeated verbal, physical, social or psychological aggressive behavior by a person or group directed towards a less powerful person or group that is intended to cause harm, distress or fear. we see this in all aspects of our life, from preteens to adulthood,
An experience i personally remember was a few years ago, not far from my own home, i was walking around my neighborhood after school, when i saw a young boy also walking, just directly across the road, i could tell he was worried because he continually looked behind him expecting something to appear, which soon it did.
two boys appeared and followed him, calling him names and began stepping on his shoes, and tripping him over, the boy was extremely frightened and ran off. i myself was the bystander, and i did nothing, i still wonder why i didn’t help him out,
even though this story is not as bad as other stories, it still brings attention to the issue at hand, bulling is not okay, under any circumstance. and should never be tolerated, whenever you see someone being bulled please do something!
you have the power to make a change.
“Knowing what’s right doesn’t mean much unless you do what’s right.”
