Moral Responsibility

“Do to others as you would have them do to you” – Matthew 7:12

“freedom consists not doing doing what we like but in having the right to do what we ought” – Pope John Paul II

These quotations challenge selfish ideals by pushing us to be welcoming and loving towards others. Freedom should be used responsibly as it is there for us to enable our full potential without being prosecuted or targeted unfairly. We are encouraged to look beyond ourselves and use our knowledge to help others receive the treatment they want. All people are expected to act in a morally responsible manner because we are all equal and deserve the same respect as each other. Our freedom comes with the expectation that it will not be abused. It’s impossible for everyone to get the same respect if we don’t respect others the way they deserve to be respected. It is vital for us not to abuse our true freedom because it will lead to inequality and impact negatively on others freedom. Acting in a way that we know is right is making the most of our freedom.
